Youtube introduces a new way to play your lyrics videos in youtube music when you initially view them on the main YouTube app. Now you will notice a new little YouTube Music logo which makes the idea of continuing the music lyrics video to the said app more obvious and easier. The rollout of the new feature started last Friday for Android users.
The shortcut to the YouTube Music app started in 2019 as a blue banner below the video window playing music lyrics content. This time it read “ENJOY NOW” with the description “Upgrade to YouTube Music, included in your subscription”. It wasn’t exactly the most attractive button, especially since it took up too much space and was a bit awkward. Now it’s become the “Want audio only?” prompt next to the updated button that says “OPEN”. It’s still there, but the new YouTube Music logo button will make the feature more visible. Looking at the logo will instantly tell you what it’s for instead of reading the blue banner text.
This new YouTube Music button appears in the upper right corner of the video window and is before the autoplay icon. Tap it to open the same song you’re listening to in the main YouTube app on YouTube Music. However, it is important to note that it will not start where you left off. Instead, its playback position will always be the start of any content, which is kind of handy for listening to music.
There’s also another option to switch to YouTube Music, besides using the new icon and blue banner: you can resort to the main app’s overflow menu. It’s at the very bottom of the menu that says “Listen with YouTube Music.” Apparently, it takes more effort from you, but that’s not the main concern about them. Having these three options in one app makes the function redundant. It’s a good thing that you can access the command in different ways, but some would question the need for all three options to co-exist in one place.
