Warp Records is looking for a legal and commercial assistant to join its team in London. Warp Records is a leading independent label with offices in London, Sheffield, New York and Los Angeles. We work with multi-genre, groundbreaking and influential artists with global reach such as Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Flying Lotus, Danny Brown, Kelela, Squid and Yves Tumor. The role will also provide the opportunity to work closely with other parts of the Warp Group, including our label services team, Warp Publishing, and our rapidly growing retail and technology businesses.

The role:

We are looking for a bright, confident and ambitious individual with a proven interest in media and entertainment law who has ambitions for a career in the music industry. You will report directly to the Head of Legal and Business Affairs and work closely with all other areas of the business. You will be primarily responsible for the administration of the department, negotiating and drafting a wide range of agreements (including agreements for videos, illustrations and featured artists), maintaining filing systems and rights management and permissions assistance. There will be opportunities for growth in the role, which will provide a fantastic foundation for a career as a music industry lawyer.

The person:
  • Law degree and/or LPC qualification.
  • Experience in the music industry is preferred, but not essential.
  • A passion for music and the business that surrounds it.
  • A good eye for detail and an ability to work effectively under time pressure with limited supervision and common sense.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
  • Confidence, with an ability and willingness to cultivate close relationships with colleagues and external third parties.
  • A team player with a good sense of humor and a professional work ethic.
